Springs police spokesman Capt Johannes Ramphora says the shooting took place at around 11pm.
The man (age unknown) was among more than 30 people inside the tavern.
He died on the scene.
Nothing was taken from the tavern and the suspects fled the scene after the shooting.
No arrests have been made and police are searching for the suspects.
