Gaining new skills

Daveyton - Kelza Investments and the Daveyton Book Club held a skills programme at Sozizwe Primary School in Daveyton on Monday.

The skills development programmme will run for a week and participants will receive an accredited certificate for project management at the end of the week.

According to Ishmael Dube (30), business developer and facilitator from Kelza Investments, the programme will benefit many young people who are unemployed and don’t have any qualifications.

“We wanted the youth in the community to have some skills they can utilise, now or later in their lives, and project management is a skill that many people can use in different working spaces,” says Dube.

Resident Gugu Ngcelwane (21) says she feels these kind of programmes should be done more often in the community because many young people are unemployed and don’t have financial aid to go and get qualifications and skills.

“I’m very grateful for the opportunity to learn something new that will grant me work opportunities, it should continue so as many people as possible may benefit from this programme,” she says.

Dube adds that the programme will also run in Kwatsaduza in the next two weeks.
