Suspected thief rescued from angry mob by police

Tsakane - Tsakane police arrested a 21-year-old man for possession of an unlicensed firearm on Monday.

This took place at around 8.40pm in Langaville Extension Five.

Tsakane police spokesman Capt Petros Mabuza says the suspect was allegedly assaulted by an angry mob after he tried to rob his victim at gunpoint.

Mabuza says the suspect was saved from angry residents by police who arrived on the scene.

“The community members handed over the firearm to police which the suspect allegedly used to commit crime,” says Mabuza, who added that the serial number of the firearm was filed off.

The suspect will appear in the Tsakane Magistrate Court soon.
