Robbers nabbed in hostel hideout

KwaThema - A robbery and assault victim managed to identify his three attackers in KwaThema on Saturday.

According to the EMPD spokesman Chief Supt Wilfred Kgasago, the incident took place at around 8am near the KwaThema Hostel.

He says the 35-year-old victim was approached by three men, who stabbed him and robbed him of his cellphone and cash.

Members of the EMPD First Responder Unit were patrolling the area when they were alerted by community members who witnessed the robbery and saw the robbers entering the hostel.

The trio, aged between 21 and 24 years old, were arrested after they were found hiding in one of the rooms at the hostel.

They were found in possession of R290 and a cellphone taken from the victim.

The victim was taken to the Pholosong Hospital for treatment and the suspects were taken to the Brakpan Police Station to be charged with robbery and assault GBH (grievous bodily harm).

Kgasago says the suspects will appear in the Brakpan Magistrate Court soon.
