Man arrested after armed robbery

A case of armed robbery has been opened at the Daveyton Police Station after a 33-year-old man was arrested on August 21 at the Sinaba Stadium, Daveyton

Daveyton SAPS spokesperson Sgt Constance Moalusi said it is allged that a man and woman were walking in the grounds of the stadium when they were approached by two males, who pointed a firearm at them.

“The suspects demanded their cellphones,” said Moalusi.

“The male victim gave them his cellphone and the woman dropped her bag on the ground.

“While the other suspect was searching the bag, the male victim fought with the other suspect and grabbed the gun.

“Three gunshots were fired, after which a security guard from the stadium came to assist, and chased the suspects away.”

One suspect was caught by the security guard.

No one was injured and nothing was stolen.

The suspect arrested will appear at the Daveyton Magistrates Court soon.
