Programme provides educational opportunities

Underprivileged academically talented grade six learners can qualify for a scholarship with the Student Sponsorship Programme (SSP).

Jenny Ketley, executive director of SSP, says their mission is to identify these talented young scholars and reward their commitment by giving them access to schools that will further enhance their skills and further develop their potential.

“We are developing South Africa’s future and hope that many more children and youth will have access to the opportunities provided,” she says.

The organisation has provided educational opportunities to hundreds of talented South African scholars from low income families to attend the best secondary schools for the past 15 years.

St Dunstan’s College in Benoni and Saheti School in Bedfordview are currently the only two schools on the East Rand in partnership with the programme.

Learners who believe they have the potential to change the future of South Africa can apply for the scholarships.

“It will enable the learner to attend one of SSP partner schools for five years covering their tuition, textbooks, stationery, extramural activities including sports equipment and local educational trips,” says Ketley.
