Father wants justice for his children

Tsakane - Extension 19 resident Serjo Bila (38) wants justice for the death of his two children who were allegedly poisoned on August 2.

Serjo, a father of five, has been raising his children since their mother died in 2011.

According to him, his deceased son Sibongiseni Nxumalo (22) had a gift of prophecy which he used to help members of his church and community.

Bila says his son was given cake in a lunchbox on that fateful Sunday night by a woman with whom he goes to church.

The cake is alleged to have contained poison.

Unaware of this, Sibongiseni shared the cake with his younger sisters Scosh (9) and Thabile Nxumalo (6), who ate the cake before going to bed that night.

Bila says in the early hours of the night he was awakened by his children’s cries, which later subsided and he went back to sleep.

The following morning when he went to wake up his children, Sibongesi and Scosh did not respond.

Bila called his neighbours for help as he did not know what to do.

It was too late, however, and his son and daughter were already dead.

Thabile, who also ate the cake, was fortunately still alive and was rushed to hospital, where they discovered what had happened to her siblings.

“I have not accepted what has happened to my family, it pains me that people can be this cruel and would want to kill my children,” says Bila.

His three children are still shattered about what happened.

It is alleged that the woman who gave Sibongiseni the cake lives nearby, but since the incident she is nowhere to be found.

WO Jonas Sithole from the Tsakane Police Station confirmed that a case of murder was opened and the matter is being investigated.
