The visit formed part of the department’s social cluster meeting and Mamabolo was taken on a tour around areas faced with housing challenges.
The MEC also listened to the many grievances of residents faced with housing problems.
The Imbizo was not only for the Department of Human Settlements but also the various departments within the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality.
Community members were asked to gather at the KwaThema Stadium where officials addressed them and they were given a chance to speak and voice their concerns.
Many residents complained about housing in their areas and pleaded for things to change in KwaThema.
Ekurhuleni MMC of Human Settlements, Aubrey Nxumalo, explained to community members that government is continuously working towards solving their problems and residents should not be angered in the process of waiting for their issues to be addressed.
