The KwaThema police reacted to a call about a shooting incident at 4am.
When the police arrived on the scene they found the driver of the hijacked vehicle dead.
It is believed the driver and his friend were sitting in the vehicle, when they were approached by two armed suspects.
KwaThema police acting spokesperson, Col Martie van der Walt, says police believe that the one suspect pulled the driver out of the vehicle and shot him.
The passenger ran away.
Van der Walt urges the community to be vigilant and not to sit in their parked vehicles especially in dark places.
