Using the power of prayer against drugs

KwaThema - To fight against drugs in Kwatsaduza, the Mabena brothers will host a worship night on Friday from 6pm.

Community members, including those with substance abuse problems, are invited to the prayer session at the Word of Truth Family Church at the corner of September and Mduduzi streets in KwaThema.

According to Sphumi Mabena, the event is also aimed at educating the youth about the dangers of using drugs.

He says after realising that many young people have lost hope for the future because of the high unemployment rate, they saw the need to intervene and bring back hope.

Mabena believes the criminal activities taking place in many communities is a result of drug and alcohol abuse.

“The youth use drugs as their way to escape from their problems,” says Mabena.

He explains that because of the love for young people, the Mabena brothers are visiting schools in KwaThema to discourage learners from using drugs.

Mabena says they are also planning to visit prisons to motivate the prisoners not to lose hope, but to get out of jail as changed individuals who will bring about a positive change to the community.
