‘Evil voices torture me’

KwaThema - A mother of three children from KwaThema says wherever she goes, she hears voices telling her to do bad things to herself or her family.

Joyce Makgalemele (46) from Masimini Section has been living in the same house since she was born.

She says growing up and living in the home was full of fun and joy, but things changed two months ago.

Makgalemele, who recently resigned from work, believes she is haunted by evil spirits.

She explains that her life and the lives of her children is a living hell as she hears evil voices telling her to kill herself or informing her that there are people who want her dead.

Her children are aged between 10 and 21.

“I hear the voices wherever I am, even when I am in a taxi to town, and some people think I am losing my mind,” says a sad Makgalemele.

She is convinced there are evil creatures who watch her every move, including her visits to the bathroom.

To make matters worse, Makgalemele says when she at home, she feels there are people trying to electrocute her.

She says the voices have given her a new name, ‘Mampinga’, which they use to communicate with her.

These weird voices sometimes awaken Makgalemele in the middle of the night telling her to come over to their homes as they have a surprise for her.

Makgalemele, who underwent a shoulder operation a few months ago and still suffers from severe pain in her shoulder, says the voices have taken away her freedom and some of her friends have abandoned her, believing she is crazy.

The situation at the Makgalemele household is getting worse as her first-born son is forced to be with her all the time.

Makgalemele says she needs help to fight against the evil voices after her attempt to open a case of harassment with the police did not succeed.

Traditional healer Joseph Nkosi from Tsakane confirms that Makgaleme is haunted by evil spirits.

He says she needs to get a strong healer who will perform a certain ritual for her and her family which will chase away the evil that is following them.
