International uproar over Cecil’s untimely death

Pierre van Wyk, president of the African Bowhunting Organisation spoke to our colleague at the Zululand Observer in the wake of the uproar surrounding the killing of Cecil the lion in Zinbabwe.

Kyle Cowan of the Zululand Observer has been keeping tabs on the developments around the death of Cecil which has caused an international outcry.

Cecil was killed in the Hwange National Park in Zimbabwe by America dentist Walter James Palmer in what has been described as an illegal hunt on July 1.

He apparently lived for 20 hours after being shot, with a bow, by the experienced trophy hunter from Minnesota, who paid $50 000 for the hunt.
