Metro apologises for lack of refuse removal

Various residents have reported a lack of service delivery as their rubbish bags were collected.

Themba Gadebe, spokesman for Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality (EMM) says refuse was not collected due to reduced vehicle availability and staff shortages.

“The EMM wishes to apologise to residents in the Springs area for the inconvenience caused by late removal of refuse in the area,” he says.

He adds that the backlog of uncollected waste will be addressed over the following weekend.
