Men’s club donates to community

KwaThema - Last Saturday the Executive Men’s Club partnered with the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality (EMM) to donate school shoes, grocery hampers and blankets to learners and senior citizens at the KwaThema Skills Centre.

Lorraine Mashego (69), a recipient of a blanket and grocery hamper, expressed gratitude to the men’s club for their generous donations and encouraged them to continue to take care of senior citizens.

“I am happy that we are not forgotten by our community and children, these generous donations mean a lot to us as pensioners,” said Mashego.

Executive Men’s Club chairperson Wilfred Mapoulo (58), explained the importance of giving back to young children and senior citizens.

“As a men’s club we want people to know that we are responsible men that care about the young and old, we want to be an example to young boys so they know how important it is to show kindness and care to their fellow people,” said Mapoulo.

He also indicated that the club will continuously give back to the community, through donating and hosting programmes to educate young boys about social responsibility and abuse.

Dan Lesike, a social worker at the KwaThema Skills Centre, said that these initiatives are very important so male children may grow up knowing that they have a responsibility within their community.

“The spirit of giving must be instilled in our youth so we may eradicate the the high rate of poverty in our community,” said Lesike.
