Police are looking for a cell phone thief

Bakerton - A 58-year-old woman was robbed of her cellphone in Bakerton last Wednesday.

This took place at around 11am at Garden Road in Bakerton.

According to Springs police spokesman Captain Johannes Ramphora the woman was walking alone along the street when she met a young woman estimated to be between 25 and 30 years old.

Ramphora says the suspect pretended to be looking for a doctor’s surgery and stopped the victim to ask her if she knows the name of the street where the surgery is.

He adds that after the victim told her that the doctor moved from that surgery to another place, the suspect took out a knife and threatened to kill the victim if she did not give her a cellphone.

She searched the victim before leaving the scene with her cell phone.

No arrest has been made and the police are investigating a case of armed robbery.

If you know where the police can find the suspect, you should contact the Springs police on 011 365 5700/19/20.
