KwaThema police serve soup to residents

KwaThema - To celebrate Mandela Day, police officers from KwaThema police station served soup to the community members.

Patients from the KwaThema Main Clinic and visitors to the police station received the soup cooked by the police.

KwaThema police, spokesman Captain Mandla Phori said that the police are a part of the community and that they wanted to do something that would put a smile on the faces of KwaThema residents in celebration of Mandela Day.

“The police believe that the day is celebrated to build relationships and show love to each other,” says Phori.

He also indicated that the police will continue to give back to the community even after the Mandela Day celebrations.

Senior citizen Thokozile Naki (81) is one of the residents who received a hot cup of soup at the police station.

Naki thanked the police for the soup and encouraged the police to keep doing things that will benefit the community.

Taking the last sip from her cup of soup, Naki left the police with some wise words, “I know that the police’s duty is to fight crime, but it creates a good relationship when we see them helping our communities in other ways too”.
