KwaThema - The newly elected KwaThema Community Police Forum (CPF) executive committee promises to work with police to fight crime in the township.

The executive, which consists of 14 members, has been in office for three weeks.

One of its top priorities is to fight drugs in KwaThema.

According to chairman Oupa Mabiletsa, the executive will work hard to ensure all drugs dealers are put behind bars.

He says the committee’s job also entails ensuring a healthy relationship between the community and police.

“There has to be a strong relationship in order to fight together and win the battle against crime,” says Mabiletsa.

He ensures community members who live in fear of crime that the CPF will endeavour to make the area safe.

KwaThema police spokesman Capt Mandla Phori says the local SAPS have confidence in the new executive.

He says working with the CPF will create a strong relationship between police and the community.

“Police can not fight against crime alone, we need support and information from the community,” says Phori.

He appeals to the community to work with the CPF and to report criminal activities.
