Children remain active during holidays

Tsakane - The Tsakane Youth Development Programme (TYDP), in partnership with Love Life, is hosting a school holiday programme.

Speaking on behalf of TYDP, managing director Pule Moloi says the school holiday sports programme is aimed at encouraging children between four and 13-years-old to love sport.

Children receive skills and coaching in soccer, cricket and different indigenous games.

The games and different sports take place along Fingo Street, next to the Tsakane Clinic.

Moloi says the programme started on Monday, July 6 and will end on July 17.

He also says that the programme is aimed at keeping children busy during their school holidays.

“We understand that many children are victims of crimes when alone at home during the day while their parents are at work,” says Moloi.

Ntando Dlamini (6), a Grade One learner says he is happy about the programme, especially since he does not have to walk far to play with his friends.

He says after taking part in a few soccer games and coaching sessions during the programme, he is confident about his soccer skills.

“The programme helped me learn new soccer tricks,” says the excited youngster.
