Retired primary school teacher dies

Duduza- Abigail "Big Girl" Maseko Mqoco died after a long illness on July 8. She was 52 years old.

Mqoco was born on November 1 1963 in Chasterstone and matriculated at the Sidlamata Secondary School in Mpumalanga.

She began her nursing career at the Baragwanath Hospital before completing a teaching diploma at the Kathorus College of Education. Mqoco later read for a BA degree through the University of South Africa (UNISA).

Mqoco started teaching at Balfour Primary School before moving to Roseview Primary School in Duduza, where she taught for more than 20 years. She took an early retirement in 2014 due to her illness.

Mqoco is survived by her husband Nkosana Mqoco, her two sons Kagiso and Thulani Maseko, two brothers and her parents.

The funeral service will be held at 7.30am at the Dutch Reformed Church on the corner of Mthetwa and Ntomela Streets.

The cortège will leave for the Vlakfontein Cemetery at 10am.
