Twin Plugs raises funds for soup kitchen

Tsakane - Twin Plugs Entertainment has raised funds for its new soup kitchen through drama.

Actors from the society, which is based in Tsakane Extension 12, entertained the residents of that township with their production of ”Freedom but no wisdom”, on Saturday, at the Tsakane Old Age Home.

According to the company’s chairman, Siboniso Sibiya, the play is aimed at raising funds for the new soup kitchen that his company started at the beginning of the year.

He says the kitchen feeds more than 30 disadvantaged families.

“To ensure that the soup kitchen does not die, we need funds to be able to feed the families who depend on it in order to get something to eat,” explains Sibiya, adding that the play is also aimed at reminding the young people of Kwatsaduza about the role played by the youth of 1976.

The play also educates the young people about the consequences of crime.

“The play sends a message about putting education first and avoiding involvement in criminal activities,” says Sibiya.

One of the actors in the play, Sibusiso Majola (18), says the production is another way to discourage the youth from celebrating June 16 with alcohol.

“As young people from the township, we want to ensure that the youth do not forget about the role that they have to play in order to bring a positive change in the community,” he concludes.
