Spartans take second place in tournament
KwaThema – The Spartans netball team from KwaThema attained second position at the Black Eagles Annual Netball Tournament in Katlehong over the weekend.
“The tournament consisted of 16 teams which were divided into two groups of eight,” says team coach Mandela Mafuyanduna.
Mafunyanduna explains the team lost one game, putting them in second place.
“I am very happy with the result because the players only had four weeks in which to prepare,” said Mafunyanduna.
Spartans player Nqobile Kunene was named Player of the Tournament, as she showed perseverance and resilience throughout the whole tournament.
Mafunyanduna says the players showed they were prepared physically, spiritually and emotionally from the beginning of the tournament.
He says they are now preparing for a tournament they are hosting in partnership with Ayoba Yo Academy on August 8 and 9.
