Dog-fighting case postponed again

Tsakane - The case against 18 people accused of dog-fighting was postponed in the Nigel Regional Court on Wednesday.

The accused, aged between 22 and 48, face charges in terms of the Animal Protection Act No 71 of 1962.

The suspects were arrested in 2013 when police closed down a dog-fighting ring in Tsakane.

Following the case’s postponement on June 10 due to the prosecutor not being available, the accused appeared in court on Wednesday before magistrate Johno Voogte.

Voogte postponed the case again, as one of the accused was not available.

The accused will return to court on July 28.
