Robbers make off with cash and laptop from Edelweiss business

On Monday (June 22), two armed men entered a business in Butler Road, Edelweiss, and robbed it of cash.

Two female employees allegedly arrived at the premises with a small box of cash at 6.30am.

Springs police spokesman Capt Johannes Ramphora says as soon as they entered the office they heard a voice shouting ‘stop’.

The two women saw two men, both of whom were armed with guns.

They immediately ordered the employers to hand over the cash and vehicle keys.

Ramphora says the robbers also demanded one of the woman’s handbag.

The robbers ran towards the gate on the premises, which another employee had tried to close in an effort to stop them.

The pair, however, pointed their guns at this employee and he immediately opened the gate.

They fled with an undisclosed amount of cash, a laptop and a handbag containing bank cards and other valuables.
