Love life commemorates June 16

Tsakane - Love Life hosted an arts festival in Tsakane Extension 15 in commemoration of Youth Day on Tuesday.

Love Life spokesperson Kgomotso Kubeka says the organisation was trying to change the youth’s perception of June16 and educate them about the consequences of risky behaviour.

Kubeka explains they observed the day through poetry and music in order to highlight the social struggles faced by the youth in 2015.

Topics that affect the youth were discussed and discussions were held in which youngsters participated without feeling scared.

The event was held in conjuection with Earth Life Africa, Bright Sparks, New Start and the Treatment Action Campaign (TAC).

Ayanda Skhosana, spokesperson of Bright Sparks, says celebrating the day is essential because the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Intersex community is stilll fighting for their rights in the country.

“This is a good platform for the youth to have a community dialogue that will empower our mindset and our thinking like the youth of 1976,” says Ayanda.
