Creating a clean environment at Zamani Primary School

KwaThema - Parents, politicians and former learners at Zamani Primary School cleaned the premises on Monday, in order to ensure that the children have a clean environment to study in.

Speaking on behalf of the school, Mandla Sibeko, deputy chairman of the school governing body, says the cleaning campaign follows a period of unrest at the school a few weeks ago.

He added that parents were not happy about the conditions of the school.

“We believe that the cleanliness of the school helps learners pay more attention to their studies and understand better in class,” says Sibeko.

He also added that they will continue to keep school grounds clean.

Speaking on behalf of the politicians who took part in the clean-up operation, Xolani Zulu says the cleaning was also done to ensure parents’ involvement in the education of their children.

“It is important for parents to play a role in the education of their children,” says Zulu.

He dded that because politicians are also part of the community, it is their responsibility to encourage children to take education seriously.

According to Zulu, they will clean other schools in KwaThema.
