Gogo robbed at gunpoint

Everest - A 79-year-old woman was robbed by two men in Gugulethu/Everest on Saturday.

The senior citizen and her brother were walking along Freedom Street at around 6am, on their way to a taxi rank, when they were approached by two armed men.

Springs police spokesman Capt Johannes Ramphora says the men pointed a gun at the pair and demanded cash from them.

The victim’s brother ran for his life, leaving the elderly woman behind.

“It is alleged that the gogo fell down when she tried to escape from the suspects, who robbed her of R1000 and her handbag,” says Ramphora.

He says no shots were fired and police are investigating a case of armed robbery.

No arrests have been made.
