NCC hosts a fun walk

Duduza - The community came out in numbers to support a fun walk hosted by the Nigel Caring Community (NCC) last Saturday.

The walk proceeded from the centre in Namane Street and ended at the Duduza Stadium, where an educational talk about HIV/Aids and the importance of practising safe sex was presented.

King Xaba (50), project manager of the NCC, expressed his gratitude for the number of people who supported the event.

“As an organisation, we did not anticipate such a huge response from the community,” says Xaba.

The organisation’s primary objective is to help children who are orphaned by HIV/Aids, by providing them meals and other necessities.

Many of the participants admitted to not knowing the centre existed.

Percy Felepa (40) only found out about the centre when she was told about the walk.

“The centre needs to do more awareness campaigns in order for the community to know who they are,” says Felepa.

Participants of the the walk expressed how fun it was walking 5 km for a good cause.

Xaba said they are planning to hold the fun walk annually.
