New Springs Taxi Association executive

Springs - The Springs Taxi Association (STA) has a new executive.

The elections were held at the KwaThema Home Old Age last Thursday.

The majority of the newly elected executive members served in the executive during the last term.

The elected members are expected to occupy the office for four years.

Speaking on behalf of the newly elected executive, chairman Velly Mbatha says the executive has a responsibility to ensure a good working relationship between the association and the commuters.

He says safety and treating commuters with respect and dignity is their first priority.

Mbatha promises to ensure the taxis are upgraded and in the best condition to transport passengers to their different destinations.

“We will always be loyal to our commuters and are open to suggestions from them to better our services,” says Mbatha.

The association’s public relations officer Thomas Kabini sent condolences to the families of those killed in an accident involving one of their taxis on May 15.

Three people were killed in the accident, which took place near the Gosforth Plaza toll gate along the N17.

He says to ensure safety in their taxis, the association is planning to send all taxi drivers on a defensive driving training course.
