Capt Mandla Phori of KwaThema police says the fight between the two men, both aged 27, took place along Ndlela Street at around 6.30am on Sunday.
He says the victim was approached by a man who accused him of dating his girlfriend.
“While he was trying to explain, the man was attacked by the other with a knife,” says Phori.
The victim sustained serious injuries to his right hand and forehead, and was rushed to the Pholosong Hospital for treatment.
The attacker was later arrested and charged with assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
He will appear in the KwaThema Magistrate Court soon.
