Local police celebrate Africa Day

Africa Day was celebrated all over the continent on Monday.

Africa Day commemorates the founding of the Organisation of African Unity, now known as the African Union.

The annual day aims to celebrate African unity.

Africans wore their traditional attire in celebration, and others spent the day learning different African languages.

The KwaThema and Tsakane police stations joined in on the celebrations, and officers and staff wore traditional dress.

Speaking about the importance of the day, KwaThema resident Shelly Mkhize (56) says it reminds Africans about the importance of loving one another.

She believes that Africans are born with humanity which they need to share with each other.

“We need to threat each other with love and respect, while also learning about many cultures,” says Mkhize.
