Road safety measures welcomed in Tsakane

Tsakane – New road safety measures have been installed along Ndabezitha Street.

Ward 83 councillor Shimane Kodisang says five accidents occurred during April and May due to a sharp bend in the road.

Kodisang says residents living in front of the bend were living in fear for their lives and worried that a car would crash into their homes.

The Department of Roads and Transport saw a need to install the steel barriers at the bend and two speed humps for the safety of residents and pedestrians of the area” he says.

Despite the new measures, he still urges motorists to be cautious when driving along the street.

Community member Andries Shabalala (49) is thankful the steel barriers have been installed and hopes the measures will make a difference.
