Illegal occupant of Gogo’s house will be evicted

Langaville - The Ekurhuleni Metro has promised to request an eviction notice for the illegal occupant of an RDP house owned by an 86-year-old granny.

The story of Gogo Ntombizodwa Ndlovu featured in the African Reporter of May 1, ‘Someone else is living in my house’, where it was reported that Ndlovu was unable to move into her RDP house, because it was already occupied by someone else.

Thuli Mokoena (49), who claims to have lived in the house for five years, refuses to move out.

Metro spokesman Themba Gadebe say the address (site 80/19530) is registered in the name of Ntombizodwa Johanna Ndlovu, and confirmed it is illegally occupied by Mokoena.

“Ndlovu is unable to take occupation as a result of Mokoena’s refusal to vacate,” says Gadebe.

According to Gadebe, ward councillor for the area, Ivy Nkosi, has made a commitment to ensure the illegal occupant vacates the house this month.

He adds, according to the local councillor, Mokoena has been staying in this house for a period of a year.

“Should the ward councillor fail in her endeavours, the metro’s Corporate and Legal Department will be requested to obtain the eviction order for the eviction of Mokoena,” concludes Gadebe.
