A march for peace

KwaThema - Members of the Independent Order of True Templers (IOTT) took to the streets of KwaThema last Saturday, in a march against xenophobia and substance abuse.

The march was held to create awareness in Kwatsaduza about xenophobia, and drug and alcohol abuse.

The members don’t want to see any more violence and bloodshed in the community.

IOTT is an independent organiszation, made up of various churches within the Ekurhuleni region.

The march started at the KwaThema Hall in Nkosi Street and proceeded to the Republican Trinity Church in Mdebuka Street.

Gladys Tshabangu (61), a member of the organisation, wishes the youth of Kwatsaduza would be more involved in campaigns that address serious issues.

The organisation is also concerned about the rise of alcohol and drug abuse in the community.

“Our children are experimenting with drugs and alcohol and end up addicted, and we as parents and grandparents are affected the most,” she says.

The march ended at the church, where a prayer session was held.
