Tsakane man arrested for elderly women’s murder

Tsakane - A Tsakane man was arrested in connection with the murder of a 69-year-old woman in her home in Modderfontein on Wednesday.

The 28-year-old man was arrested at his home in Tsakane on Thursday at around 2am.

The man had been working with a contractor at the woman’s home, installing cupboards.

According to Const Sharon Tsotsotso from Sebenza police, the man was arrested after police received information from a gardener working at the estate where the woman lived.

She says the gardener told police he saw the man driving out of the estate in the victim’s car.

Tsotsotso says the man confessed to tying the woman up, cutting her wrists and strangling her with rope.

He stole her car, a plasma television set, her cellphone and alcohol.

Tsotsotso says during police questioning, the man revealed he had sold the TV to a man who lives near his home.

This man, aged 32, was arrested for possession of stolen property.

Both mens are expected to appear in the Kempton Park Court today (Friday).
