Teachers ensure love for maths and languages

KwaThema - Teachers have sacrificed their weekends to provide additional lessons to primary school learners.

These dedicated teachers started the Focus on Maths and Languages Classes in 2013.

The classes are given on Saturdays at Khangezile Primary School.

According to one of the teachers, Sbongile Morulane, they started the classes after realising that some learners required extra lessons to fully understand the subject matter.

“We also felt that we needed to have extra classes to ensure that learners understand maths and their languages in order for them to pursue careers,” says Morulane.

She explains the classes cater for learners in grades three and seven, and are attended by children from different schools in and around Springs.

Morulane believes children need to have an excellent understanding of maths from a young age.

Setswana and isiZulu are the extra language classes offered.

Khangezile Primary School is situated at 18450 Thema Road, and classes are held from 8.30am until 1.30pm.
