Springs police spokesman Capt Johannes Ramphora says the woman was on her way home from work when the incident took place at around 9.20pm.
He says the victim was walking home after getting off the train at Roadbend Train Station with a 48-year-old man, when they were approached by three males.
Ramphora says the men demanded cash and cellphones from the pair, and also took the man’s belt.
The group forced the man to watch as they raped the woman.
No arrests have been made and police are investigating cases of rape and robbery.
