NCC to host fun walk

Duduza - The Nigel Caring Community (NCC) project in Duduza will host a family fun walk on May 30.

Community members of Kwatsaduza are invited to participate in this educational and informative fun walk.

The walk will start at 7am at the NCC project centre, which is situated in Namane Street, and will proceed to the Duduza Stadium in Monakali Street, where an educational talk will be delivered on HIV and Aids, and other pressing issues faced by the community.

King Xaba (50), the project director of the organisation, wants people to know more about the organisation and become involved.

NCC has been around for over a decade.

They work hand-in-hand with the Department of Health and Social Development in identifying families who need assistance.

Their primary objective is to take care and assist children that have been orphaned because of the HIV and Aids pandemic.

The centre supplies orphans with food and other necessities.

A crèche is also open to children who don’t have guardians to take care of them during working hours.

Due to the high poverty rate in certain areas of Duduza, children from most schools receive meals in the mornings before going to school, and again in the afternoons before going home.

Recently they have started offering skills development for child-headed families.
