Parents want justice after child’s death

Duduza - A two-year-old boy was killed in Khambule Street last Wednesday, after allegedly being struck by a taxi.

Sibusiso Morodi’s grandmother Sarah Morodi (47) had been dropped off at home by the taxi that allegedly hit her grandson.

It was around 5.30pm when the vehicle stopped outside her gate, and Sarah saw her son standing on the pavement along with other children from the neighbourhood.

She climbed out of the taxi and walked around the back of the vehicle

All of a sudden, Sarah saw all the children running away, screaming, and her son lying under the taxi.

Sarah screamed for help, but by the time a doctor who practices in the area arrived to assist, it was too late.

“It felt like a part of me was dying when my child was lying there lifeless”, says Morodi.

It is alleged that the taxi driver was on his cellphone when the incident took place, and he drove off after realising he had struck the little boy.

Sibusiso’s father Nkosana Twala (31) was called and told to come home immediately, and was shocked to learn of his child’s death.

The parents are finding it hard to deal with their loss, especially since the person responsible is nowhere to be found.

Sarah says she will always remember her son’s playful and happy character.

He use to like playing outside with his half-sister Mbalentle Twala (2), and other children.

A case of murder was opened at the Duduza Police Station.

“All I want is for justice to be served,” adds Nkosana.
