Dancers take to the stage
Duduza - The Ekurhuleni Youth Club hosted the finals of the Batcha Dance Competition at the Monti Motloung Community Hall on Saturday.
Director of the Ekurhuleni Youth Club, Vusi Yende, says the semi-finals of the competition were held at KwaThema Hall on March 14.
He says the aim of the competition was to promote local talent and build self confidence amongst dancers, especially when performing on stage.
The winners were Intuthuko Youth Production, with Young Generation Group and Buhlebokumazi Traditional Group awarded second and third place respectively.
Yende explains the the event was hosted in conjunction with the Department of Arts and Culture, National Arts Council and the Department of Sports and Recreation.
According to him the top six received honorary certificates for their great work.
In his conclusion, Yende adds there will be a multicultural competition on September 24.
