Keeping fit

Duduza - Percy Felepa (40) offers aerobic classes every evening, at the Resource Centre in Duduza

Felepa took up aerobics in an effort to lose weight, and hasn’t looked back since.

She became an instructor and has been offering classes for more than 10 years.

“Aerobics is a part of my life, I can’t imagine a day without it,” says Felepa.

She has had numerous people coming to her classes over the years.

Some come to lose weight, while others want to keep fit and release stress.

Felepa says keeping fit should be a daily regime for everyone.

“Exercise is not only good for the body, but also for the mind and soul,” she says.

She trains elderly citizens and primary school learners in her spare time.

Felepa believes that children should exercise and participate in sports from an early age.

She dismisses the erroneous belief that aerobics is suited only to women, and encourages men to join her classes.

She wants to open her own gym in the future.
