Educator Puleng Vilane says the school decided to celebrate Freedom Day in honour of the elderly who fought for the liberation of South Africa.
Vilane adds the aim of the event was to highlight the challenges now facing the youth, such as teenage pregnancy, peer pressure, HIV and Aids, and to address xenophobia.
She says students performed for the home’s residents, entertaining them with poetry, drama, music and public speaking.
Vilane adds the event ended with the residents receiving warm gifts for the winter, such as socks and blankets.
The home’s manager, Phoko Mokubong, says they are thankful to the school for spoiling them on Freedom Day.
