Community says no to xenophobia

Tskane - The community of Tsakane, together with different stakeholders, marched against xenophobia on Monday.

Participants marched from the corner of Xhoza and Zulu streets to Mponeng Park.

The EMPD, Tsakane SAPS, Tsakane SAPS Youth desk, Govermment Information Systems, Basneth Neighbourhood Watch, VW crew, Nissan Crew, 24/7 Bikers, Ek FM and Will of Life joined the Tsakane community in the march.

According to Tsakane police spokesman Capt Petros Mabuza, the purpose of the march was to raise awareness about xenophobia.

Mabuza thanks everyone who was involved in the march, including the foreign nationals that marched hand in hand with the community.

He says the the march was organised after a few shops owned by foreign nationals in Tsakane were robbed.

Mabuza says even though the business robberies cannot be proven as strictly xenophobic in nature, the community needs to stand with immigrants.

“Lets say no to xenophobic attacks as the foreign traders are our fellow brothers and sisters,” concludes Mabuza.
