Three arrested after shooting at police

Duduza - Three men were arrested after a car chase in Duduza on Sunday.

Duduza police spokesman WO Yakub Rasool says the police were informed about a fight between two groups of men at an address in Ndudula Street.

He says when police arrived on the scene, they were told that one of the groups had left the scene in a white Golf 7, travelling in the direction of Sonnestraal Road.

Police gave chase, and after the suspects realised they were being followed, they opened fire on the pursuing officers.

“Police immediately called for backup and officers from the Dunnottar police station responded,” says Rasool.

He continues to say that police later managed to catch the suspects at the intersection of Namane and Sonnestraal roads.

Upon searching the Golf 7, police found an unlicensed firearm.

The three suspects, aged between 24 and 27 years old, face charges of attempted murder and possession of an unlicensed firearm.
