Geluksdal protest has calm down.

Order has returned to Geluksdal following a protest by residents.

The protest began on Wednesday, April 1, when residents of Geluksdal Extension Three received eviction notices from the Department of Housing and Human Settlements.

Residents later handed over a memorandum to officials at the Tsakane Customer Care Centre.

According to the spokesperson of the Tsakane Police Station, Captain Petrus Mabuza, the situation has returned to normal and no arrests have been made for public violence.

Resident Thuli Mabaso says they are waiting for a response from the Department of Housing and Human Settlements about whether they will be evicted.

Mabaso explains the department must try relocate them before evicting them from Geluksdal.

She says they are still living in a state of uncertainty as they do not know when the Red Ants will arrive.
