Stream poses danger to the community
A stream near Tolashe Street, in Rest in Peace, KwaThema, is a danger to children who play in the area.
According to resident Aubrey Masina, there is a park near the stream were children from the area play different types of sports.
Masina explains he has witnessed children fetching soccer balls from the stream after heavy rains.
He says the stream may become flooded after heavy rains and fears the children will drown if they continue to play here.
According to Ward 80 councillor Dora Mlambo, there will be a public meeting soon to address the issues of the area.
Mlambo says community awareness has been done in the park, and children were informed not to play or swim in the area to avoid drowning.
She suspects the children play at the stream because an entrance fee is charged at the local swimming pool at the sports complex.
Mlambo urges parents to make sure their children do not play near the area.
