Captain Johannes Ramphora of the Springs police says the male victim had withdrawn money at an ATM in Palm Springs at about 11am, last Sunday, and was followed to his car by the hijacker.
Ramphora says the suspect, who pretended to be a beggar, pointed a firearm at the man, pushed him to the passenger seat, and drove off.
Ramphora adds that the suspect abandoned the man in Zigzag Road and fled in his car.
The car was later found in a nearby open veld.
Police appeal for the community’s assistance in arresting the suspect.
