Dance with kofifi dancers

Kofifi dance is one of the dance movements which is mostly loved by residents in the townships.

The most popular and loved kofifi dance group from Duduza known as Cancer City dancers recently changed its name to Kofifi Young Dancers.

The group consists of four members between the ages of 14 and 18 years.

Because they all have a love of kofifi dance, they formed the group to entertain the community while also trying to break into the entertainment industry.

All the group members are still at school and understand the importance of education to build their future.

One of the group members, Jabulani Lebeeya said their dedication and love for kofifi took them to China in 2013 where they performed against other groups which perform in different dance styles.

“We believe that we will reach our goal of ensuring that this type of dance lives on in the townships,” said Jabulani.

Adding that one of the group’s goals this year is to compete in the most popular TV talent show called SA’s got talent.

Tebello Mazibuko explained that when competing this year, they will be more focused and unite to win the prize.

“Last time we managed to reach the semi final stage of the competition,” Tebello said.

Speaking about the challenges that the group is faced with, Veli Mabena said they are in need of performing costumes and financial support for transport to be able to travel to many places to perform.

Sifiso Lebeeya appealed for the community’s support.
