Taxi drivers take on road safety

Duduza Taxi Drivers gathered in numbers last Monday to address road safety, hygiene and friendliness at the Nigel Taxi Rank.

According to the public relations officer of the Nigel Taxi Association Musa Mthembu the aim of the Taxi Driver Wear a Tie Campaign is to encourage taxi drivers in Kwatsaduza to consider personal hygiene, cleanliness, a positive attitude, friendliness to commuters and road safety.

Mthembu explains the taxi drivers are stereotyped as rude people who do not care about passengers, but only care about themselves and the money they receive.

He urges pedestrians and cyclists in the coming winter season to wear clothes that reflect so that drivers can see them and stop putting on earphones when on the road.

According to Mthembu they are willing to work hand-in-hand with other taxi associations to achieve a common goal.
