Tsakane police spokesman Captain Petros Mabuza says the girl was on her way to school on Tuesday morning when she was sexually assaulted by a 43-year-old man.
He says the community heard the scream of a young girl from an open veld in Geluksdal Extension three and rushed to the scene.
“The man was caught by the angry community raping the girl,” says Mabuza.
Adding that the community beat the man before they called the police to the scene.
Mabuza confirms the man is under police guard at Pholosong Hospital after he was admitted for treatment following the injuries he suffered from the beating he received from the community.
