The robbery took place at 7pm at Gugulethu/Everest Informal settlement.
Springs police spokesman Captain Johannes Ramphora says the tuck shop owner heard gun shots not far from his shop and went to investigate.
He says the man saw two suspects instructing customers who were next to the tuck shop’s door to lie down and more shots were fired.
While the tuck shop owner managed to escape, two people were shot in their legs by the suspects.
The suspects then fled the scene with R800, victims’ cellphones and bags of maize meal.
A case of business robbery has been opened and no arrests has been made yet.
